BYXnet IRC!
byxnet.net - web chat entry to byxnet IRC network
click here to start chatting immediately, or read on for more information first. you may also want to try our more secure webchat entry -- helps minimize chances of electronic eavesdropping on your conversations.

members-only webchat is now available for yossman.net members.

NOTE: the secured webchat is still being tested. we do not yet have a legitimate, signed SSL certificate through one of the assigned authorities, but the encryption on your conversations should still be intact. we are working to get our certificate legitimized as soon as possible. until then, you will receive a warning about illigitimate certification when you click the secured webchat link.

on the next screen, you will be asked for a nickname (a.k.a. nick) for yourself. this is a one-word name that you'd like to use on IRC, up to nine characters long.

you will also be asked what channel you'd like to join. channels are where people collect together on IRC to talk. by default, you will join into the main public byxnet channel, #byxnet . channel names almost always start with a # character (also known as the pound, hash, or number sign character), so if someone told you to join a specific channel ensure you keep the # character in front of the channel name you type in.

www.byxnet.net uses CGI:IRC v0.5.2 for this byxnet IRC service. more information on their project can be found at http://cgiirc.sourceforge.net/, and some documentation that came with CGI:IRC is available.
